Overview
This policy explains how Find Tradies NZ collects, uses, stores and shares information when you browse the directory, submit the contact form or ask for a business-listing correction. We aim to handle personal information in line with New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020.
Information we collect
Information you send us
The contact form asks for your name, email address and message. Your message may also contain business details or other information you choose to provide. Please do not include sensitive information that is not needed for the enquiry.
Public business information
Directory listings may include business names, categories, addresses, phone numbers, websites, opening information, photos, ratings and review counts obtained from publicly available business and map listings. Some of this information may identify a sole trader or other individual associated with a business.
Technical information
Hosting, security and delivery services may process technical information such as IP address, browser type, requested pages, timestamps and error or security logs when the website is used.
How we use information
- Respond to enquiries and listing-correction requests.
- Operate, maintain, secure and troubleshoot the website.
- Publish and refresh useful business-directory information.
- Assess requests for directory inclusion or promotion.
- Comply with legal obligations and protect the website from misuse.
When information may be shared
Information may be processed by service providers that support website hosting, email delivery, security and directory-data retrieval. We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to a lawful request, or to protect the rights and safety of users, businesses or the website. We do not sell contact-form information.
Some service providers may process information in countries outside New Zealand. Where that occurs, we use providers and arrangements intended to provide appropriate protection for the information involved.
Storage and retention
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose it was collected, including responding to an enquiry, maintaining an accurate listing, resolving a dispute, meeting legal obligations and protecting the service. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Access and correction
You may ask whether we hold personal information about you, request access to it, or ask us to correct information that is wrong, incomplete or misleading. Send enough detail for us to identify the relevant contact message or business listing. We may need to verify your identity or authority before making a change.

Third-party websites and directory data
Find Tradies links to independent business websites and may display information sourced from third-party business listings. Those services have their own privacy practices. Contact the relevant third party directly about information it controls, and also tell us if the copy shown in this directory needs correction.
